Jeff Edwards: A Commitment to Service and Opportunity

Jeff Edwards has led iScan for more than three decades, and the organization’s two-part mission – to provide great customer service while offering career opportunities to people with disabilities – is a perfect fit.

“Creating those job opportunities is very meaningful to me,” Edwards says of the more than roughly 120 people with disabilities who have worked for iScan over the years. “I like to see just how much a job matters to people who often have a harder time landing one. That is very near and dear to my heart.”

Edwards also understands that iScan must deliver high-caliber service to clients and make sure their needs are met consistently. “It’s important in this business to have someone out there who really cares about your project. I just like helping other people,” Edwards says.

Edwards, who has worked for Humanim since 1990, received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware and did graduate work at North Carolina State University and Penn State University. He took part in Leadership Baltimore County and served on the board of Maryland Works.

Today, Edwards leads iScan’s efforts to provide DocuWare, a world-class document management system, to area businesses, nonprofits and public agencies. “And he stays on top of the latest trends with DocuWare and all of iScan’s business lines. He has been certified as a DocuWare Application Consultant (DAC) and DocuWare System Consultant (DSC), giving him the expertise to make sure each client has a first-rate experience with the software.

One iScan client, a major university, lauded Edwards’ commitment. “Mr. Edwards’ aptitude for customer service, attention to detail, and genuine interest in exceeding his customer’s expectations for deliverables, was refreshing for me as a project manager,” the client wrote. “iScan’s high-quality work product speaks for itself, but that work product, coupled with Mr. Edwards’ leadership and project management skills and experience, results in deliverables that consistently exceed the project team’s expectations.”

“That kind of feedback means the world to us. Knowing that we’re making people feel that way in a business environment is special,” he says. “I like to deliver that because it’s a unique thing that people aren’t used to.”
